| 2007 Season
SATURDAY, JULY 7, 2007 (OREGON, WI) – Madison International Raceway, a fast ½ mile oval, was up next for the Mid-American Series #93 car. Mother Nature gave us a beautiful, sunny, and hot day. First up would be the 8-lap heat race, the #93 Cedar Lake Sales car would start in the fourth place spot. By lap 2, the Obermeyer Motorsports car would be up to second place and would begin to put the pressure on the leader. It wouldn’t take long for the #93 car to climb into first place with 5 laps to go. As the checkered flag would come out on this caution free race, the Obermeyer Motorsports car would cross the line in first place!
For the 40-lap feature event the #93 Whiskey River car would start in 19th place. As the field would recieve the green flag the pack of 23 cars would all stick together side by side. The #93 car would gradually start picking off positions one by one and would be found in 11th place on lap 16. The first yellow flag would slow down the field on lap 25, due to a single car incident in turn 3. After the track clean up crew would finish, the #93 Pontiac Grand Prix car would be restarting in 12th place. For the next few laps, Dave would bounce from 12th to 14th place positions. On lap 37, while battling for position, a caution would come out in turn one causing the #93 car to spin to avoid. Luckily, there was no damage and the Obermeyer Motorsports car would restart in 12th place. For the remaining three laps, the #93 car would maintain and finish in the 12th place spot.
Qualifying = 19th quickest out of 23 cars Heat Race = 1st
SATURDAY, JULY 14, 2007 (WISCONSIN DELLS, WI) – This would be the Mid-American Series’ first time debuting at the Dells Raceway Park, along with all the 25 cars that traveled the way to compete on this 1/3 mile track. After many adjustments were made to the car, the first 10-lap heat race would be brought to the line. The #93 Finishmaster car would start in 6th place on the outside of row three. Once the green flag was displayed the Obermeyer Motorsports car would be half way to the front in 3rd place by lap 3. From there the #93 car would continue to pick off a position every two laps putting us out in front by lap 8. After the checkered flag was thrown the #93 car would cross the line in first place!
Next up was the 40-lap Hankscraft sponsored feature event, the #93 Grand Prix would start in row nine on the outside in 17th place. Before the race the entire Mid-American field would get to do on track out of car introductions, which was a great opportunity for the fans to see all the sponsors that help each car one more time. Once the last driver was buckled up and ready to go the field would get let loose to come and do what they do best. By lap 3, the Obermeyer Motorsports car would still be found in 17th place and would begin to put pressure on the 16th place car. Once the #93 car would get around and advance into 16th place, Dave would begin to try and setup a pass for 15th. But unfortunately, on lap 10 while making a move to the inside, the 15th place car wouldn’t give Dave any room and would come down on the #93 car causing the car to spin down onto the apron of the track. This would cause the right rear tire to go flat and the transmission shifter to break loose which meant that the #93 car would be done for the night.
Qualifying = 19th quickest out of 25 cars Heat Race = 1st
SATURDAY, JULY 21, 2007 (KAUKAUNA, WI) – The Mid-American Series would be back again at the Wisconsin International Raceway for the second of three visits scheduled for the year. A total of 32 cars would all compete for a chance to make the 35-lap feature event. The #93 Triple V Web Design car would not be fast enough by time to advance into the feature, so Dave would have to race his way in by competeing in the 12-lap qualifier. The #93 car would have to finish in the top 3 positions to be eligible to advance into the main event. The Obermeyer Motorsports car would start in fourth place on the outside of row two. By lap 3, the #93 car would be found in eighth place and struggling due to a poor handling car. A caution on lap 7 would give the Obermeyer Motorsports car a chance to regroup and make a challenge for the top spot. The #93 Pontiac Grand Prix car would restart in sixth place. Once the field recieved the green the #93 car would begin to pick off positions by using the outside line. By lap 10, Dave would be found in second place and challenging for the lead. As the field came down to the checkered flag, Dave would have a strong lead and would finish in first place making this our 4th straight heat race win!
Since taking the win in the qualifier race the #93 Cedar Lake Sales car would start 16th in the 35-lap Tisler Salvage feature event. The first caution would come out on lap 10 due to a hard crash coming out of turn four involving six cars. Luckily, the #93 car would get through untouched and would restart in 13th place. Once all the clean up was done and the field would get back moving again, the Obermeyer Motorsports car would pass two more cars and would be up to 10th place by lap 14. Another caution would come out on lap 28, due to a three car incident in turn one. The #93 car would restart in 10th place with seven laps to go. Dave would get by one more car on lap 33 to finish the night in 9th place.

SATURDAY, MAY 26, 2007 (MORRIS, IL) – Grundy County Speedway, a tight 1/3 mile oval, was the next track for the Mid-American Series. A long 3 ½ hours drive from the Obermeyer Motorsports shop in Allenton, WI. Rain had been threatening us for almost the entire ride and as we got 10 minutes away from the track the events were cancelled. The only good thing about this ride was even though we didn’t get to race, at least our sponsors were all seen while we were driving, due to us having an open trailer.
SATURDAY, JUNE 9, 2007 (KAUKAUNA, WI) – Wisconsin International Raceway, a fast and bumpy ½ mile oval track, was where you could find the Mid-American Series and the #93 Obermeyer Motorsports Pontiac Grand Prix. Our day would not start out easy because most tracks are now mandating us to run transponders (which is a little box that gets installed on the chassis and helps the track computerize each cars time and position) we would have trouble getting our transponder to click over, so the track could never get an accurrate time on the #93 car. So, for the first qualifying attempt, of course the transponder wouldn’t turn over so the laps were never scored. The #93 car then pulled back into the pits so the crew could move the device and Dave would have to make a second attempt. Finally, on the second try, the Obermeyer Motorsports #93 car would time in to be 15th quickest with an elapsed time of 21.671.
Next up would be the 10-lap heat race, the #93 Cedar Lake Sales car would start on the outside of row three, in sixth place. By lap 3, the Obermeyer Motorsports car would be found in third place and quickly gaining on the top two cars. With two laps to go, the #93 Whiskey River car would be in second place and right behind the leader. Coming down to the checkered flag the #93 car would pass the first place car and claim the win!
For the 35-lap Mid-American feature the #93 Pontiac Grand Prix would start in 15th on the inside of row eight. On lap 8, a tangle between two cars would bring out the first caution of the race. The #93 car would be found in 14th place and would keep working on the cars ahead of him for position. By lap 14, the #93 Finishmaster car was in eighth place and would maintain that position for several laps. The #93 car was handling pretty well and by lap 22, Dave would be in seventh place. However, with three laps to go, a car would spin out of turn two to stack the field up for a three lap shootout. The #93 Obermeyer Motorsports car would cross the finish line in seventh place, and would be noticed as the hard charger of the race after starting in 15th and finishing in 7th.
Qualifying = 15th quickest overall out of 30 cars
Heat Race = 1st
SATURDAY, APRIL 14, 2007 (ROCKFORD, IL) – Rockford Speedway celebrated its 60th year and the Mid-American Series would kick off the season opener with a 60-lap feature event. Last year, the #93 car would start off the season with a heat win in the Mid-American Series which would be our first win at the Rockford Speedway. But this year the Obermeyer Motorsports #93 car would return to win our first ever feature at the 30th Annual Spring Classic.
It was a wild start to the feature event due to a Mid-American Series car hitting the tire that protects the corner of the pit entrance going into turn three, which would send the car airborne into the fence. That car would be done for the night, but the driver walked away without any injuries.
The #93 car would start on the outside of the front row and would take the lead on the re-start. Dave would maintain a car length lead over the field by using the prefered outside line. The first caution came on lap 33 due to a single car incident, with the #93 Cedar Lake Sales car still in the top spot.
The second place car would catch the #93 car, but could not get enough grip off the inside line to get by. Dave would continue to run the preferred high line around the quarter mile oval.
With three laps to go, the yellow would come out due a car spun in turn three right in front of the #93 Whiskey River car. Dave would have to spin to avoid and would be given his position back on the re-start.
The second place car would make a clean attempt to try and pass the #93 Grand Prix with two laps to go. As they would come off of turn four on the final lap, the second place car would try to pass on the inside, but the #93 Obermeyer Motorsports would cross the finish line in first place! This would be the team’s first ever feature win and to top it off Dave had lead the entire 60-lap race.
SUNDAY, APRIL 22, 2007 (SLINGER, WI) – Slinger Speedway, the world’s fastest ¼ mile oval would kick off their season opener with a 40-lap Midwest Sportsmen feature event. The #93 Triple V Web Design car would start in sixth place on the outside of row three. Dave would settle into third place by lap 3 and would maintain that position throughout the entire race. The one and only caution flag would come out on Lap 31 for a minor tangle between two cars in turns three and four. The #93 Obermeyer Motorsports car would re-start in third with nine laps to go. Dave would try to put the pressure on the second place car but would finish in third place.
Qualifying = 12.869 5th fastest overall out of 21 cars
SATURDAY, APRIL 29, 2007 (PLOVER, WI) – Goldens Sands Speedway, a slick 1/3 mile oval, was up next for the Mid-American Series featuring a 40-lap feature event. The Obermeyer Motorsports #93 car would start on the inside of row seven in 13th place. A caution would slow the field down on lap 2 due to a single car spin. The #93 car would re-start in 13th place and would put pressure on the 12th place car. For the remainder of this 40-lap event the Obermeyer Motorsports car would battle between 11th and 12th. As the checkered flag would end the race the #93 car would cross the line in 12th place. This would be our first time competeing at the Golden Sands Speedway, so we were happy to leave there with a respectable run.
Qualifying = 13.565 14th fastest overall out of 27 cars
Heat Race = 2nd
