Obermeyer Motorsports Race
Update
Posted by Katie Obermeyer on April 28th,
2009
The Obermeyer Motorsports #93 car traveled to Rockford, Ill. for the
Mid-American Season Opener show on Saturday and Sunday April 18th
– 19th. This high banked ¼ mile oval has been both successful
and a challenge for the #93 car. Saturday was just a test and tune day for
us and the weather was great with temperature’s in the higher 60’s and
lower 70’s. The #93 Becker Boiler car was fast right off the trailer and
very consistent in every practice. With having such a successful practice
day, Dave and crew were very optimistic about Sunday’s race. As the #93
team would arrive at the track for the driver’s meeting on Sunday morning,
rain would take place of the beautiful weather that we had for Saturday.
The event was cancelled shortly after the meeting and postponed until the
next Sunday, April 26th.
Next up for the Becker Steel #93 car was a trip to Cedar Rapids, Iowa on
Saturday, April 25th. Hawkeye Downs Speedway is a fast ½ mile
oval and this would be the first time that both the car and driver would
compete here. But once again the rain would keep falling, forcing the
track to cancel and rescheduling this event for Saturday, August 8th.
Forecast’s still didn’t look good for Rockford, the next day, but many
teams took the chance and left Iowa to travel back to Rockford for
Sunday’s race.
After spending the night in Rockford, Ill. the #93 team would wake up to
find that once again the day’s races would be cancelled and this time will
not be rescheduled. It was unfortunate that we never got to unload the #93
Pigskin Inn car and would head on back home to Wisconsin. Good news is
that the car still looks great, bad news is that the #93 team and driver
are very anxious to get this racing season underway.
Next up for the Al’s Hideout #93 car is the Golden Sands Speedway in
Plover, WI on Friday, May 22nd. Gates open at 4:30 pm – Time
Trials 6:30pm – Racing at 7:45pm. Please come out and join us!!!
UNTIL NEXT TIME THIS WAS YOUR RACING UPDATE!!
Hat Trick Complete, Third Consecutive
Mid-American Event Washed Out
Posted by Admin on April 27th,
2009
Love’s Park, IL (April 26, 2009) – The Mid-American Stock Car Series lost
its third event in as many tries Sunday morning as the 32nd Annual Spring
Classic’s rain date succumbed to poor weather. The rain date from last
Sunday’s event at Rockford Speedway will NOT be made up.
On Saturday, 26 Mid-American teams towed to Cedar Rapids, IA only to be
rained upon, as well. The “Return to Rapids” at Hawkeye Downs Speedway
will be made up on Saturday, August 8th.
Mid-American has left the option open to add another race in 2009 in order
to keep twelve points events on the schedule. Prospective venues and dates
will be considered in the coming weeks.
The next event for Mid-American is the “Drive the Mile” charity/media
event next Sunday, May 3rd at the Milwaukee Mile. More details will be
available shortly through Mid-American’s home page and
www.milwaukeemile.com .
Mid-American will attempt to see its first green flag of the season on
Friday, May 22nd at the Golden Sands Speedway in Plover, WI for the
Central Wisconsin 40. For more information on the Golden Sands Speedway
